National Trust Properties around Stratford upon Avon
National Trust Properties are an excelent choice of historical discovery, of family time spent together outside in the nature.
16th century country house, with lots to keep the whole family entertained, is situated in Wellesbourne, Warwickshire, CV35 9ER, only 15minutes drive from Penryn Guest House, free parking. Or by bus, X18 bus from Stratford upon Avon to Leamington Spa. Long walks, deers and stags, games on the lawn, plenty of trails to follow....beautiful location for visiting and relaxation, especially if you find Stratford too busy.
The main house is open between 11:00am to 4:00pm and the Outbuildings, Garden, Park and Shop from 10:00 to 5pm.Guided tours are available in certain days, subject to volunteer availability (most Wednesdays).
15th century house with a gate tower, wonderful walled gardens (in spring there are lots of bluebells and in June the Rose garden is in bloom!), well informed staff. You can learn in depth about the Gunpowder Plot or just wander through the fantastic grounds for a great day out. It is situated in Alcester, B49 5JA, a 15 minutes drive from Penryn Guest House.
Open mainly Wednesdays to Sundays from 11:00 am to 5pm, with taster tours available in the morning 10:45 to 11:15.
Upton House and Gardens
1930 house, with lovely gardens and an amazing amount of paintings, knowledgeable volunteers. You will enjoy this place if you have an interest in WW2.
The house is open every day except Thursdays, from 12pm to 4pm.

Middle Litleton Tithe Barn
Grade I listed barn dating to the 13th or 14th century, it stands 130 feet long and 42 feet wide and it's a must visit when in the area. The address is Croft Road, Middle Litleton, Evesham, WR11 5LN and it is open every day from 2-5pm from the beginning of April until the end of October.
Also take the circular Middle Litleton Tithe Barn Walk for 6 miles around the Vale of Evesham countryside and alongside the River Avon. This is a level walk apart from one descent and a short but steep ascent of Cleeve Hill.
Nearby the Middle Litleton Tithe Barn there is Croome Court and Park, with magnificent grounds, lovely walks, nice play are for children, plenty free parking.
Croome Court is the former home of the 6th Earl of Coventry. Lots of exhibitions going on, including the creative Capability' Brown exhibition until the end of March 2017. The Capability' Brown Parkland is the paradise for wildlife and has stunning gardens and trails to be explored. There are "50 things to do" each season in the parkland, and the Family Activity Cabin is a good starting point.
