Shakespeare's Birthday Celebrations - Friday 20th, Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd of April 2018
William Shakespeare was born in Henley Street on or around the 23rd of April 1564.
Each year, the festivities in his home town are one of the highlights of the year and include the display of the flags of nations, the birthday procession, traditional dancing, street entertainment and the Birthday Play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
The "new look" Birthday Celebrations for 2018 includes the inaugural Community Carnival Parade, which will feature walking pageants, inspired by works of literature, not restricted to the works of William Shakespeare.
Following the Carnival Parade, the Bancroft Gardens will come to be the stage for the debut of "National Living Statue Championship", set to become an annual event from 2018 and is exclusive to Stratford -upon - Avon. There is a prize of £500 for the best amateur statue and a £50 prize for the bestchild statue and will be judged on Sunday.
A number of other events will take place for the first time in 2018: a craft market on the Recreation Ground on Saturday and Sunday, a carousel on Waterside, a Sound & Vision show from across the river on Saturday evening, together with an abundance of street theatre and live vocalists.

Packed into the historic streets will be some 400 of the UK's most treasured historic and astonishing vehicles.
Stratford upon Avon River Festival - Saturday 30th of June & Sunday 1st of July 2018
Plenty of free entertaining for all the family awaits visitors to Stratford upon Avon's annual River Festival, which is now one of the region's top free festivals and attracts thousands of people to this famous town.
Stratford upon Avon Food Festival - Saturday 22th of September & Sunday 23rd of September 2018
Taking place over two days, the historic town centre and picturesque riverbank play host to a live Food Threatre, continental, specialist food and farmers' markets, as well as live music and entertainment.
Stratford's best eateries host free live cookery demonstrations in the Food Threatre on how to prepare their signature dishes.
For a small fee, the Town Centre Taste Trail also offers visitors the widest range of Stratford tastes with samples from the town's best coffee shops. tea rooms, gastro pubs and restaurants.
