This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.
Introduction
Penryn is situated on a main road (Alcester road) into Stratford-Upon-Avon, a 0.8 mile walk from the town centre. We have 9 bedrooms with 3 on the ground floor. We are accessible for wheelchair users or guests with reduced mobility as there are no steps to the front of the property and the access from the car park is on a flat level.
There are 2 entrance doors; the outside entrance door which goes into the porch area is not locked at any times and it is 85cm (34 inches) wide; the second entrance door which goes into the hallway area is kept locked all the time and it is 75cm (30 inches) wide.

Pre-Arrival
We are 0.7 miles (a 10-minute walk) from Stratford-Upon-Avon train station, the nearest bus leaves Stratford from outside the train station onto the Alcester Road (route no X19 towards Alcester and Reddich) and stops off a 2-minute walk away from Penryn on Alcester Road (Saltaway centre bus stop).
There are various taxi services available in Stratford please call ahead if you would like us to book you one. Alternatively, they are available outside the train station.

Car Parking and Arrival
There are two car park spaces at the front of the guest house only a short distance (2 meters) from the entrance of the guest house, and we are happy to reserve these spaces for mobility reasons if required. There are 7 more parking spaces at the back of the property, there are no steps, the access is on a flat level.
There is one car park space guaranteed per room. However, if you are having difficulty finding a space please let us know and we will assist you as we have additional parking on the other side of the road.
All vehicles are parked at the owners’ risk. Should a problem occur with a vehicle in the car park, Penryn cannot accept any liability.
The ground from both of our parking areas is even, sturdy and made of tarmac.
Welcome Area
The reception/welcome area is on the ground floor of the property.
The area is well lit and has even flooring covered in a short pile floor carpet.
Upon arrival, the guests are escorted to their room and given assistance with luggage if required.
The main hall and landings are generally spacious and well lit.
Self-check in can be arranged for unusual check in times, please contact us in advance.
Bedrooms
GROUND FLOOR
We have 3 very accessible ensuite bedrooms. Located on the ground floor, there are no steps to get to them.
The door into the rooms has an opening of 75cm (30 inches) and the door to the en-suite shower rooms is 75 cm (30 inches) wide.
The rooms have a short pile carpet.
The rooms are bright and evenly lit and is decorated in natural colours.
FIRST FLOOR
There are 12 stairs up to the 1st floor (quite steep). Each step is 73cm (29 inches) wide and 21cm (8 inches) high.
There is a handrail available on both sides of the staircase.
We have 4 ensuite bedrooms on the first floor. The door into the rooms has an opening of 75cm (30 inches) and the door to the en-suite shower rooms is 75 cm (30 inches) wide. The rooms have a short pile carpet. The rooms are bright and evenly lit and is decorated in natural colours.
SECOND FLOOR
There are 14 stairs from the first floor up to the 2nd floor (quite steep). Each step is 73cm (29 inches) wide and 21cm (8 inches) high.
We have 2 ensuite bedrooms on the first floor. The door into the rooms has an opening of 75cm (30 inches) and the door to the en-suite shower rooms is 75 cm (30 inches) wide. The rooms have a short pile carpet. The rooms are bright and evenly lit and is decorated in natural colours.
Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (En-suite or Shared)
All bedrooms, have their own en-suite shower room with a shower cubical, sink & WC.
The shower rooms are well and evenly lit.
There is a small step up into all of the shower cubicles.
We do not offer breakfast through 2021.
We continually upgrade Penryn Guest House to make it more accessible.
